The Triple Lock Standard is awarded annually by the Charities Institute Ireland (CII) to charities that meet rigorous benchmarks in three key areas: transparent reporting, good governance, and ethical fundraising. It signals to donors, beneficiaries, and the public that a charity operates with professionalism, integrity, and openness, ensuring contributions are used responsibly and effectively.

Key Criteria:
1. Transparent Reporting: Charities must prepare and publish annual reports and financial statements in full compliance with the Charity SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice under FRS102) or the most appropriate version for their operations. These documents must be publicly accessible on the charity’s website. 
2. Good Governance: Triple Lock charities adopt the Charities Governance Code, meeting all core principles and additional standards where applicable. This ensures strong, accountable leadership and ongoing review of policies and procedures .
3. Ethical Fundraising: Charities commit to following the Charities Regulator’s Guidelines for Fundraising from the Public. Staff are trained, and controls are implemented to ensure all fundraising practices are ethical and compliant.
